The Whistling Bunting Travelling Tea Party – A WKDN Sponsor

Regular readers or even visitors of my site may very well recognise these lovely images (captured by Sally Thurrell Photography). They are from our Wonderland Collection shoot, which i had the pleasure of organising at the beginning of the year teaming forces with one of our sponsors The Whistling Bunting Travelling Tea Party!

I became aquainted with Lynsey this time last year after her then mother in law to be (who was also my Physics teacher in High School & then fellow student on my Textiles Degree) passed on my details to her. Lynsey was planning her Summer Wedding and commisioned a bespoke headpiece as well as a couple of other lovely treats – See more here.

We became ‘virtual penpals’ emailing back and forth for almost a year before we finally met to style this shoot together in January. Lynsey is full of fabulous ideas, a whizz at styling, extremely fun to work with and has a simply gorgeous (mountainous) collection of Vintage China and other fine things…

In Lynsey’s own words…

‘I started up ‘The Whistling Bunting – Travelling Tea Party’ after collecting a vast amount of pretty vintage china for my own wedding. I wasn’t ready to let go of the collection and sell it on (I would have kept some if it!) and I thought it would be a good idea to hire it out for weddings, hen parties, garden parties, baby showers… any kind of party!
My husband, Matthew, came up with the name as I wanted something whimsical and we liked the play on words with bunting also being a type of bird…

When Katy suggested collaborating on an Alice in Wonderland-inspired photoshoot, together with Sally T Photography (who had also taken our amazing wedding photos), I knew it would be a fantastic opportunity. Katy created a lot of fantastic accessories for my wedding and we had worked together in creating my website with Fozzynotknow and I knew that we would work well together on the shoot.

On the day, we worked well together to style the ‘tea table’ to create the vintage look we were going for. I love being creative and it gave me an outlet for this. It was great to work with Katy on a photoshoot where she had made the most fantastic headpieces and accesories, found the perfect models and make up and hair artist and location, and sourced the fantastic cakes and clothes. Sally’s photos speak for themselves and show the great fun we had at the shoot and show off the beauty of all our our items.

Since starting up I’ve exhibited at wedding fayres, organised a charity tea party, served tea at a charity vintage fashion show and collaborated with wonderful, creative people. I love being a part of this great community.’

Lynsey (based in Newcastle) has some fabulous packages on offer to suit larger parties as well as being able to mix and match what you hire from her. Alongside her crockery, Lynsey also hires out Vintage props, bunting, board games, wooden signs and a Retro Photobooth! So if you are in need of prettying up your tea party The Whistling Bunting is perfect!

If you want to see The Whistling Bunting in Action Lynsey will be exhibiting in The Vintage Corner as part of The Sage, Gateshead’s Elite Wedding Show on Easter Sunday :)

Tea Time with a Twist of Spring…

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

Morning all, i thought i’d start the week with a really fresh inspiration board requested by another real bride of mine Heather. Straying from my usual Wedding themes Heather asked me to help her with some ideas for an outdoor tea party she is having mid April with Pink & Green Shades to reflect lovely Spring. She needed help with decor and table dressing ideas so here it is :)

I thought it would be absolutely fabulous to tie in refreshments with the colourscheme – what about Pink Lemonade & Cucumber sandwiches? Simple but effective! But my favourite of all is the idea of serving jelly in Vintage China teacups! (Bottom left) How cute is that!?

Another simple idea is the bowl of Apples centrepiece, sprinkled with beautiful pink flower heads. And who doesn’t love the Crochet Doily Bunting? The colours are amazing – you could even make it yourself by collecting up old doilies and changing the colours with a dye from Haberdashery shops/Ebay.

I had a lot of fun putting this together and hope it helps Heather and inspires you all – it could even be a pretty idea for a little girls birthday party :)

p.s. It even seems like Etsy is indulging in some pink & green love – just checked out the featured treasury.
